For this one, I’m going to ask you to read a piece I wrote in 2002 while I was at the Worldwatch Institute, when Lomborg had just burst onto the scene with the publication of his first book, The Skeptical Environmentalist. Lomborg took on almost all of the major environmental issues at the time, claiming that his reading of the data (he was a statistician) revealed that the planet was in much better shape than the environmental groups would have us believe. Scientists from the various fields blasted Lomborg’s claims. Scientific American even put out a special issue taking Lomborg to task.
