GPM Features is the newest addition to Global Public Media, in which we offer special documentaries and interviews on vital issues. We have already covered such topics as the new danger of nuclear power (part of the Cyanide Solution series), the push for in LNG in the United States, the future of the Russian Oil Boom, and Chris Skrebowski's Oilfields Megaproject. Watch for additional features to be added regularly.

This month, Global Public Media stories have focussed on renewable energy (a British Energy Farm), LNG, and the problematic USA Energy Bill on Capitol Hill. In the coming weeks we'll take a look at agriculture, so watch your inbox! Here are the latest stories available at Global Public Media:

Introducing ASPO-USA: Steve Andrews and Jim Baldauf talk about ASPO-USA, a non-profit, non-partisan Research and Public Education Initiative to Address America's Peak Oil & Gas Challenge.

Threats of Peak Oil to the Global Food Supply" - Richard Heinberg: An in depth look at energy, carrying capacity and trade as they relate to modern food production in the face of impending global oil peak. Delivered at the "Food Security in an Energy Scarce World" Conference held in Dublin, Ireland.

The Coming Saudi Oil Shortage: CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) Radio One Show 'The Current' interviews Houston-based energy investment banker, Matthew Simmons on the heels of the death of Saudi King Fahd.

How to Avoid Oil Wars, Terrorism, and Economic Collapse: The Oil Depletion Protocol provides a way forward for national (and regional governments). While it will require fleshing out and detailed negotiation, the Protocol is inherently simple. Furthermore, it would be unnecessary for all nations to ratify the Protocol in order for it to have a beneficial effect; if even one nation adopts it, that nation will be benefited. However, if a substantial number of nations sign on this will create a platform for international economic stability and cooperation.

Oil Depletion? It's All In The Assumptions: Ron Cooke, author of 'Oil, Jihad and Destiny' examines Daniel Yergin's Cambridge Energy Research Associates(CERA) report 'Worldwide Liquids Capacity Outlook To 2010: Tight Supply Or Excess Of Riches.' He shows that it is based on numerous assumptions that cannot neccessarily be counted on in reality and contrasts CERA's view with a number of more skeptical opinions from within the industry.

Where Is the Hirsch Report?: Half a year after its release, the Hirsch report is nowhere to be found. For several months it was archived, in PDF format, on a high school web site (www.hilltoplancers.org, Hilltop High School in Chula Vista, Calif.). On July 7 the report disappeared from that site. The Atlantic Council (www.acus.org) is considering publishing the Hirsch report; however there is no projected date of release. When contacted, Dr. Hirsch replied that the document is "a public report, paid for and released by DOE NETL, and that it therefore could be reposted at will." - By Richard Heinberg

Michael Bagley On The US Energy Bill: The long-awaited energy conference report has received its final stamp of approval from the USÂ House and Senate, culminating a tortuous and bitter process to update national energy policy that began in the early days of the Bush administration.

Tony Marmont Speaks About His Energy Farm: In this interview with Global Public Media's Julian Darley, British professor, Tony Marmont explains why and how it all works giving the viewer a sneek preview into the way a sustainable future might actually look.

Will FERC force LNG terminals on unwilling communities?: This Feature Report by Global Public Media's Kellia Ramares focusses on the extraordinary measures being considered to force LNGÂ plants on inhabitants against their will. This Feature Report has interviews with Jim Thompson, Dale Allen Pfeiffer, David Hughes, Elena Ducharme, Rep. David Sullivan, Tim Riley, Gordon Shearer, Tamara Young-Allen, Chris Duval, and Peter Huhtala.
