Global Public Media
GlobalPublicMedia is an internet broadcasting station that streams long format audio and video interviews. It was established in 2001 by Julian Darley, founder and director of Post Carbon Institute. Darley created the media service to cover complex issues, such as environmental degradation, that are largely disregarded by conventional news media. GlobalPublicMedia was also created in response to the trend of mainstream news media to focus primarily on making a profit, increasing ratings and developing news as entertainment.
This media service offers news and analysis provided by world experts from a wide variety of different fields. These in-depth, informed and dissenting viewpoints cover a diverse range of complex issues including
- peak oil,
- climate change
- pollution, population
- geopolitical conflict
- food and water security
- genetic modification
- globalization
GlobalPublicMedia correspondents provide thorough and introspective interviews, as a result of their wide variety of different educational and experiential backgrounds. The interviews and feature stories are available in audio, video and transcribed versions. Portions of the interviews are available by request for documentary and educational films.
